Yeah I'm hoping Mass gets another one this year also. I'd love to see them in Hampton Beach but not on a Sunday night.

Agreed, I've never seen them headline, only open. These type of bands rarely come to Montreal, and when they do it's opening or festival dates, it really disappoints me Baroness too hasn't headlined here since the Red album, and they're only doing a 40 minute Heavy MTL set rather than a headline date this summer. At least I get Kylesa next week.

Even if Clutch has to play a smaller venue, I don't understand what the deal is, maybe it's the French lol. Their biggest album to date and they still can't fit in a gig here. Sucks I wasn't able to make the trek to Toronto this Spring. Oh well, one day haha.

...So I finally 'get' Clutch, I think.

I came home late last night and decided to give Earth Rocker a solid listen after browsing around this thread yesterday.

Goddamn that album actually slays (much more than anything else I've heard from them to date). Quite a different sound.

Are there any other albums they have like this one?

Anybody new to Clutch I usually suggest the S/T to start off and then Blast Tyrant. BT probably more like Earth Rocker, can't go wrong either way.

Blast Tyrant is the most similar to Earth Rocker, same producer as well. That's the album I started with and it blew me away. The next album Robot Hive/Exodus is in the same vain also, but a bit bluesier.

Elephant Riders is probably my favorite because riff wise, it's probably their best but people new to Clutch are usually put off by the vocals or production on that.

The self titled is a classic, whole album is really good, more spacey and stoner rock than what they are now though.

CLUTCH Postpones September Tour Dates

Maryland rockers CLUTCH have been forced to postpone the September tour dates of the “Earth Rocker” North American Tour. This is due to a health issue with singer Neil Fallon. Most of the shows will be rescheduled and dates are listed below. Support on the rescheduled shows will remain the same and come from The Sword and Crobot. Tickets that were already purchased for the dates in September will be honored for the rescheduled dates in January. Unfortunately one of the shows could not be rescheduled and has been cancelled. This is show is Vienna, WV on 9/21. The show scheduled for Long Island, NY on 9/27 will be rescheduled for a later date, please hold on to your tickets. Refunds for the West Virginia are available at point of purchase. The band will still be playing “The Shindig” festival on September 14 on as scheduled and planned. The Hampton Beach, NH date originally in September is now scheduled for October 25. Unfortunately The Sword and Crobot will not be appearing on this new date in Hampton Beach, NH. News about support will be released in the coming weeks.

CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon gave an update on his condition:

“Dear friends, this week I've learned that a childhood injury to the neck, a genetic predisposition for spinal disease, and 20 some years of head banging will exact a toll. I've been diagnosed with an ugly case of cervical spinal stenosis and two herniated discs.

In some instances these conditions can be treated non-surgically. This is not the case for me. I have been advised by several neurosurgeons that my spinal cord has already been damaged and that I risk further damage were I not to address the situation. For this reason, I've decided to take care of this ASAP. Believe me, re scheduling a tour turns my stomach, but I believe this is the wisest choice given the prognosis.

On Tuesday I will undergo surgery. The procedure will fuse three vertebrae together with a small titanium plate. I have faith that this surgery will go as well as it can, and that I will be back in the saddle for our October-November tour. On behalf of my spine, deepest apologies to those who had been looking forward to seeing CLUTCH over the next two weeks. We'll make it up to you.”

Health and Happiness,

Neil

Earth Rocker was released March 19th via the band’s label Weathermaker Music. The album entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #15 achieving the band’s highest chart position to date. The album then proceeded to hold its own on the Billboard Top 200 for a total of 5 weeks. The album also came in at #1 on the Hard Music Chart and #3 on the Independent Album Chart. The digital demand for this album continues to be very strong. In the week of release Earth Rocker shot to #4 on iTunes' overall Top 100

The lack of The Sword on the new Hampton Beach date is enough to cause me to delay seeing Clutch till the next time they come around.

CLUTCH/THE SWORD/CROBOT TOUR UPDATE. Please click the link below to see the rescheduled dates with Clutch. We are currently working to reschedule our headlining shows in Tallahassee, Philadelphia, Richmond, and Monroe to directly follow the January Clutch dates. More details on those soon. Apologies to Vienna, WV; Huntington, NY; and Hampton Beach, NH. Those are Clutch's shows and therefore completely out of our hands.
