That said, I have no idea who will be on the next Dio album, and I sort of doubt it will be Goldy at this point.

Bumping this, because:

1. Dio
2. I updated the long broken link to audio I recorded of this gig. It points to YouTube now. Specifically, here. ("Gates of Babylon")

Otherwise, the post is unchanged and represents whatever the hell seventeen year old me was trying to accomplish.

RIP Dio

I wish I had had the chance to see Dio solo.

Yeah Did you see Heaven & Hell though? Because man, they were fucking sick too

But with the solo band, he definitely played more intimate venues.

Yep, saw Heaven & Hell three times. The last of which was in Baltimore in 2009, just a handful of shows before Dio's final show in Atlantic City. Me and my friends were on the rail directly in front of Dio, it was amazing.

How could you not have heard Anthrax before this?

Granted it was during the shitty Bush era, but still.

So, was this thread brought back to life since today marks 3 years since Dio died?

Because I was only 17 and listened to strictly traditional metal at that point: Black Sabbath, Dio, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Judas Priest, etc. Later that year I bought my first Megadeth album, and not long after even Anthrax, who I enjoy just fine now.

When I was younger, I gave a lot of things bad reviews simply because I hadn't been exposed to stuff yet. But to be honest, if you don't like thrash metal, 60 minutes of loud in your face thrash is kind of a drag. That's where I was at 17. By 18, I wouldn't have complained about Anthrax

Yes

But also, I did finally add the audio back. There's been a broken link on that post here for like 8 years
