This sucks. Slayer means a whole lot to me, which mean's Jeff Hannemann had a lot to do with shaping my tastes and perspective on stuff growing up. He's an icon and an innovator for extreme music and he'll be sorely missed. RIP

What?? Completely unexpected. I saw the thread title and my first thought was "Lame, that's not funny at all." Can't believe he passed. Liver failure, I wonder if it had anything at all to do with the complications of the bite.

Man, he penned some of the best Slayer songs and he and the rest of the band were such a big influence on me back in high school. I still love them now but back then they were so huge to me. I've been a Slayer fan since 2005 but I've only been able to see them live once, thank goodness it was in 2010 and Jeff was still in the band.

Thanks for the memories and the music. Positive thoughts to his friends and family.

NP: Angel of Death. Even though the title may be inappropriate given the situation but it's all Jeff and I still maintain that it's one of the best metal songs ever.

This is terrible. I don't listen to Slayer as much as I used to, but without them, I may not have gotten into the music I did, and some of Hanneman's songs are the best that metal has to offer.

I'll be the first to say it: I wonder what this means for Slayer as a band? I know Kerry was going full steam ahead, but this changes it.
