Coheed & Cambria -- St. Petersburg, FL -- March 6th, 2013

As we arrived at Jannus Landing for the Coheed & Cambria show the venue was already packed for the sold out show tonight. After waiting for 10 minutes or so the first band Russian Circles came on stage. They never said a word to the crowd, but they didn't need too, their technicality and musicianship is incredible, and after the first song they had most of the crowd sucked in, even though their set was only 20 minutes long, they proved that they were the perfect band to open the tour, by far the most impressive of all the instrumental prog bands. - 8.5/10

After Russian Circles finished I waited in anticipation for one of my all time favorite bands Between The Buried And Me, I had seen them once before in 2010 on "The Cool Tour", but they didn't get a crowd reaction like they deserved back then. but it seemed like over half of the crowd was there specifically for them. Finally the lights went out and the whole crowd roared for the awesomeness that is BTBAM. Right as they walked on stage they kicked into the new fan favorite Astral Body, and from then on till the outro to Selkies BTBAM showed why they are one of the best metal bands in the last 15 years. I was especially excited that they finally played my favorite song Ants Of The Sky, and towards the end when they kicked into the banjo breakdown the crowd went nuts, it was also awesome to finally hear Prequel To The Sequel live. All in all, I can't saw I've ever seen a band that was truly flawless until now, BTBAM are the epitome of what modern metal bands should strive for. BTBAM are definitely an essential "must see" live band. - 10/10

As soon as BTBAM finished it was time for a band i grew up with in Coheed & Cambria. I'll be quite honest, before the most recent double album The Afterman i disliked the band's previous couple albums, i didn't really even consider myself a fan anymore, but seeing them live now made me remember why i originally fell in love with the band's music several years ago. Claudio Sanchez is a pretty underrated vocalist, his melodies are amazing live. The high points of the performance was definitely Here We Are Juggernaut, Wake Up and of course Welcome Home, the entire crowd erupted as he started the opening riff and again before the solo, a perfect way to end a perfect show. - 9/10

Ha, he looked more like a skinnier Hurley from Lost.
