The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin

Race For The Prize
What Is The Light?
Waiting For a Superman

Deservedly one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 90s. It's psychedelic and happy and foreboding and catchy and weird and is the perfect summation of what The Flaming Lips are all about. I also think this is Wayne's best vocal delivery. They were too weird before and might be too weird now, but this album should have just enough to reel in casual fans as well as diehard Flaming Lips fans.

Fireworks - Gospel

Arrows
X's On Trees
The Wild Bunch

The most accesible pop punk album in recent memory? Totally. It actually blows my mind that Fireworks isn't on mainstream radio stations and ushering in a new era of good music returning to radio. All the riffs and song structures of melodic hardcore but the music of mainstream pop makes this super catchy and super awesome. Awesome lyrics, too.

Blind Guardian - Live

The Script For My Requiem
Valhalla
The Bard's Song (In The Forest)

Blind Guardian is my favorite power metal band of all time and this might just be my favorite live album ever. It's mixed perfectly and you can still hear the crowd singing and chanting along. I think Hansi sounds amazing here and the selection of songs is just outstanding. One listen to The Bard's Song will convince anyone that they need to see Blind Guardian live ASAP.

13 Songs is worryingly low, but everything else checks out! Good list thus far.

Will any artist be in here multiple times?
Or is the list one album per artist?

I limited myself to 3 albums per artist at most, or else there would be WAY too much Anaal Nathrakh, Slayer and Iron Maiden.

Fuck yeah! Blind Guardian are my favorite power metal band too, Nd I love this album as well, but as far as live albums go I have a few that would top this one. This album has the best versions of Valhalla, Majesty, Mirror Mirror and a few other songs too.

Asphyx - Last One On Earth

Serenade In Lead
The Krusher
The Incarnation Of Lust

Is that a ton of bricks dropped on your chest? Whoops, nope. It's just Asphyx. This is one of my favorite death metal albums ever and probably my favorite/the greatest death/doom album ever released. So crushing but still chock full riffs and killer grooves. If you don't break your neck to "The Krusher" and then again to "Serenade In Lead", then you aren't listening.
