Masonna - Ejaculation Generator

Full Album

I actually really love this album. This isn't a goof nor am I trying to troll anyone. I may not listen to Masonna daily, but when I'm in a certain mood, this album does wonders for me. I really do like the inclusion of vocals in harsh noise; it's kind of why I always go with Masonna over Merzbow. His music also seems more performance-based as opposed to done solely on a computer. Lots of emotions through this one, especially when the noise drops out to give a few lingering moments of clarity before launching back into it. What better way to open my list than with this wall of noise?

AFI - Sing The Sorrow

Girl's Not Grey
The Leaving Song Pt. II
Silver And Cold

Just enough of a mix between hardcore, pop punk, faux-goth and post-hardcore for me to latch onto this album like none other in junior high. I'd say that this album is to blame for the Vampires Everywhere/Motionless In White/etc. bands of today. But like with all precursors to shit trends, I think this album is awesome! Too bad they are really, really terrible now.

Fugazi - 13 Songs

Waiting Room
Bad Mouth
Margin Walker

Here is the blueprint for so many bands. While Minor Threat held the trail-blazing path of hardcore punk with other bands, there really were no bands just like Fugazi. The groovy, danceable melodies along with the leftover intensity from Minor Threat can be traced through to a whole host of bands. I'm not sure if I'm ready to say Fugazi is a better band than Minor Threat, but they may just be the bigger band.

Abyssic Hate- Suicidal Emotions

Full Album

This was one of the first metal albums I ever heard and I keep on coming back to it. Just the completely hopeless and depressing aura put off by this record is unlike anything I've heard since. All the emotion and expannsiveness of the current black metal scene but the riffing that comes from being a part of the awesome Australian black metal scene. Greatness.

Absu - Tara

Pillars of Mercy
Manannan
Four Crossed Wands (Spell 181)

A blackened thrash masterpiece. Absu has that certain otherworldly quality that's more apparent than ever on Tara. It's super aggressive but also just has a weird tone/musicianship to it that is totally unique and totally addicting. Proscriptor's drumming might be at his best here, especially on Pillars of Mercy. A must-have for anyone who likes metal!
