Don't know if any of you dudes remember or not, but I ended up interviewing this one death metal band made of high school kids, Hemotoxin, last summer. Still probably the lamest interview I've done, they made it painfully obvious that they were green to everything business related when it came to music. I hadn't kept up with them at all since then, but I guess they released an album. Their guitarist sent me a message on Facebook asking me for a review. After basically scolding the dude for asking for a review after the release date, not sending a promo and asking over Facebook instead of through an email to Metal Assault, I said sure since I figured it would be cool to review the debut record by one of the small bands I covered when I first started with interviews.
Surprisingly the album doesn't suck. It isn't mindblowing in any way, but the music isn't offensive, the production is actually pretty okay, and the band sounds a lot more grown up than they really are. The album is 'Between Forever... and the End' by Hemotoxin if any of you guys wanted to check it out.

I think I got the album from them too, but I heard a song on Youtube and decided not to listen to the whole thing. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Stratovarius released new one today, sounds pretty good, definitely not as good as Visions though.

Visions is going back quite a way. I've been mostly shuffling an assortment of new albums including the new Strato lately, so I've heard quite a bit of it but honestly I haven't sat and listened to it front to back properly. I've enjoyed what I've heard though.

Personally I'm impressed with the new Soilwork, but it's a bit of a mammoth and may take awhile to fully absorb/digest and make my final opinion.
As of right now, I would say EASILY best album since APP. It will take more listens to go any farther than that. APP has always been my favorite.

I absolutely love the new Soilwork, but it feels like One Disc instead of a double album. Hell you take off one song and it fits on one dis.

I just think some of the other albums utilize speed's vocals better, mixing the screams and clean vocals more naturally, this album didn't feel like it did it as seemlessly as other albums.

That's a big leap in time there. I'm a bit nervous about picking it up, I feel like I am going to be let down because I really enjoyed Elysium!
