The new Hatebreed is the only record I've thought was great so far this year. New Coheed and Cambria is pretty good as well, but nothing else has been anything too special. I have the new Suffocation and Within the Ruins that I plan on checking out in the next few days. There are a lot of releases I'm stoked on coming out later in the year so I have no doubt this year will be excellent, it just hasn't been that great so far.

You're not looking in the right places then. I already know I'm gonna like this year more than 2012 based off the 12 releases I've heard from this year.

I wouldn't say that just yet. I've heard about 20 new albums this year and only 3 of them are in 8/10 territory.

Nails is the only band to make an album this year so far that I can say I love. Shits heavy.

It is David Drainman trying to add the two things wrong with modern music. Drop A tuning chugs like Slipknot, Korn and Five Finger Donkey Punch, and the occaasional shitty synth sounds in Boots and Cats music.

The new Device song is better than what I was expecting it to be. I wasn't expecting anything good when he said it would be industrial(not a huge fan of industrial).

New Suffocation is okay. It really lost me on song five Sullen Days. You have to hear it to fully understand but I don't want melody when I listen to Suffocation. That song sounds like a Dethklok song. In fact, I noticed on this whole album how much Franks vocals sound like Nathan Explosion.

I also thought my CD skipped when I started playing it. Talk about going from zero to sixty! I don't think they were even on zero. It was just like going to sixty.
