30 Days Of Clutch

I'm doing this on my Facebook and thought I would put it on here too. With Clutch being one of my favorite bands (and favorites on here as well). I'm doing my 30 favorite Clutch songs with #1 coinciding with the release of Earth Rocker on March 19th. I will be updating this daily and adding a new song everyday. With that being said... These songs just missed the cut:

34. Immortal - Pure Rock Fury
33. Red Horse Rainbow - Pure Rock Fury
32. Motherless Child - Strange Cousins From The West
31. 8 Times Over Miss October - Elephant Riders

30. The Incomprable Mr. Flannery - Robot Hive / Exodus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmnXqjM4v0g

Lyrically I think this is one of the best Clutch songs ever. How many 70s-80s bands can you lyrically stick into one song? The answer to that would be 5. This will be only 1 of 2 songs off RH/E. Its a good album from Clutch, but I wouldn't call it a great Clutch album. But this, for me, is one of the few gems off that album.

30. The Incomprable Mr. Flannery
29. What Would A Wookie Do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkLcGLKybQ

This is a song I would consider to be a bit of a hidden gem from Clutch. This song comes off of the Pitchforks & Lost Needles album which was really nothing more than re-release and songs off of early 7" albums from the early 90s. This track was nothing more than a studio outtake from the Robot Hive/Exodus album. Honestly I'm not sure why this didn't make it RH/E album, IMO it would have been one of the better songs on the whole album. More of what Clutch does best, quirky subject matter with killer (slightly funky bassline) straight ahead rock. This is one on my Clutch list that I have never got to hear live but I have my doubts. According to setlist.fm it's only been played 5x and it hasn't been played since '07. Not lookin good but still a killer song that maybe not everyone has heard before.

I feel this would be a much better world if everyone listened to a little bit more Clutch.

Hey, since you know a lot more about Clutch than I do; there are two bonus videos on my copy of the Elephant Rides: Driven and the Wheel. Are there any recorded versions of those songs, maybe under a different title or something? iTunes doesn't have them and I've been looking for them for, well, fifteen years.

I wholeheartedly approve of this. Clutch is basically the best band ever, and you sir are a brave man for attempting to rank 30 songs of theirs. I don't think I would actually be able to decide on anything close to a final top 10, let alone 30.

Seeing this reminded me, holy mother of fuck am I excited to pick up Earth Rocker, see them two (three...?) times in March and maybe interview one of them!

From what I've run across I don't think either of those 2 have ever been officially released. I even jumped on the Clutch board and I can say for sure that no they've never been officially released.

Dear god it was so stressful after making my initial list and then having to get it down to 30 from that list. It is definitely not easy at all. Honestly I probably could have done 50 easily but figured for the purpose of this 30 would have to suffice.

Too bad, they were some good songs.
