I'm really thinking about going to this one, especially since it's on a Saturday night in Toronto. I've heard TitD are "manic" live, and Sadness Will Prevail is probably one of my top-20 albums of all-time.

Visionary extreme metal outfit TODAY IS THE DAY confirms the expansion of their rigorous North American tour, today announcing a torrent of additional cities to fall under their audio siege this Spring.

With new shows booked in many new US cities and a surge of newly-confirmed dates throughout Canada, TODAY IS THE DAY also announces additional support from hardcore henchmen Ringworm, and math/sludge metal practitioners Keelhaul on several dates. This comes following the previous announcement confirming support from KEN Mode and Fight Amp on the entire tour, as well as regional support from Black Tusk and others, the voyage to include performances at this year’s ToneDeaf Touring SXSW showcase alongside Orange Goblin, Mondo Generator and more.

Stated TITD founder/frontman Steve Austin on the pending battery: “Our 2013 Spring Tour is coming up and I can’t wait to hit the road and destroy with Black Tusk, KEN Mode, and Fight Amp. All the bands on this tour, kick ass and this is gonna be a super heavy audio ear blast for sure. Traveling across America and Canada with some of our favorite bands and stickin’ it to the man every single day is the plan. Hope to see you all there! Rage, let go, and never give in!”

TODAY IS THE DAY celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, TITD’s violent but psychedelic attack has received worldwide acclaim since their 1993 debut, Supernova. Nine studio albums have been released through Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse and others, the band’s ever-morphing lineup featuring notable musicians including Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. The current lineup sees Austin flanked by drummer Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse) and bassist Ryan Jones (Wetnurse, Mutilation Rites). The band’s most recent LP, Pain Is A Warning LP, was issued by Blackmarket Activities in 2011, the Kurt Ballou-produced beast receiving critical acclaim worldwide. Terrorizer Magazine awarded Pain Is a Warning a perfect 5/5 score, stating “Rather than resting on their considerable laurels, Steve Austin and company have created the most dynamic, varied, vicious and deeply touching album of their already long career… This is the album of the year.” Decibel Magazine hailed Pain Is a Warning as Today Is the Day’s “most ferocious offering since 1999’s In the Eyes of God and easily the most distinctly rock n’ roll slab in the band’s entire catalog.”

Stay tuned for continuous updates on TODAY IS THE DAY as the tour draws near.

I know.

The other day I was driving one of my apprentices home (he's around 20) and for whatever reason Guns 'N' Roses came up. He asked who Guns 'N' Roses were so I pulled the car over and told him to get the fuck out and walk.

But really, Pearl Jam's 'Vs.' will be twenty years old this fall...shit. And Slayer's thirtith anniversary is this year too, isn't it?

I guess a lot of the early, "extreme" artists formed about twenty years ago it seems.

And I would totally go to this if Ringworm was on my date, sadly no such luck. Oh well.
