I like the album (FED), although I don't listen to it as much as I used to. It does have some of my favorite Napalm Death songs, namely, Hung and Remain Nameless.
I have to jump on the Morbid Angel discussion too. F is probably my favorite album of theirs. Also, I love Heretic. Some of Trey's best guitar work is on here, and those dual riffs in some of the songs absolutely rule, pretty unique too, imo. Idk if people don't like it because of the production, or because it has a weird, disjoint flow (the interlude tracks), but the actual songs are incredible.

I think the production is a big reason people dislike it. It's pretty thin sounding. There are still a lot of great riffs on that album though.

I agree that Formulas is still my favorite MA album, but it was my first MA album so that always sticks with you. Heretic had some cool riffs and the song God of Our Own Divinity has a wicked interlude but that production killed any enjoyment I had for that album from the get-go.

I like it. I don't love it, but I like it. Napalm Death are just ultra reliable in my opinion, they've yet to put out a bad album.

I just listened to F,E,D for the first time in awhile and I'd say it bridges the gap between the death metal of Harmony Corruption and Utopia Banished and the more experimental sounding era of Diatribes thru Words from the Exit Wound. It's very primative and primal, much like the earlier albums. But the production isn't as dirty as those album, much cleaner and polished like the later albums. But the songs are pretty much straight up death metal and not as diverse as some of the stuff that followed.
There are some great songs like Twist the Knife (Slowly) and my personal favorite Plague Rages. My earlist ND memory is the video of that song and even when I hear it now my mind flashes to the part in the video where Barney sings "am I right or wrong, or just confused" and is hitting himself in the side of the head. That always makes me laugh.

Just reheard it. It's an okay album. Nothing special. I can see why people dislike. Its obviously the start of the "Crappy" era of ND with that horrible logo but it ain't so bad. Shit compared to the albums before it,but still an ok listen. Twist The Knife is a great tune. So do I like it? Yes. Love it or hate it? No. Would I recommend it to someone new to ND? No way.
