I don't get why some people feel this way. Listening to an album only takes about 45 minutes of your time on average, plus you can do other things while listening. And how do you find new bands you like without trying them out?

Eh, I don't get the point of "listening" to new music just for the sake of listening to new music and put it on a gigantic list at the end of the year.

I don't know if I just maybe have a slow brain or something, but I couldn't ever picture any human actually being able to listen to that much music and digest it all fully.

I like listening to new music and I love hearing new bands, but I don't think I'm gonna go through and put every single album I heard in a year in a list by ranking. That's too much for me.

How many review I write corresponds with how many records I listened to in that year. Like in 2011 I listened to like 90 albums, so I wrote up review for like 50, because I felt strongly about 50 of the records I heard, and the first few were half-assed. This past year (2012), I only listened to about 55, so I only wrote reviews for 25 albums and 5 eps, because I only felt strong about 25 albums. But if I listened to twice that, I might have felt strong about more records. All has to do with how much time I got on my hands.

Listing is fun for a lot of people, and the real reason behind listening to new releases is to find new stuff you like.

Too much time needed to do these write ups but listening to tons of music is always great.

I want to be a writer so doing these write-ups isn't a chore to me at all, but I can completely understand why some people don't like it. I have an odd fascination with making lists, ranking stuff, etc so I love doing shit like this. I'm going to sleep now, but I will resume the countdown when I wake up. Thanks to anyone who has checked this out thread so far, I really appreciate it
