Good to see someone agrees with me. I do respect them for becoming better musicians and writing a more mature, technical album, but this is just so bland.

Sans further adieu, my top 20 albums of 2012.
#20 ![]() Napalm Death Utalitarian Napalm Death is a band that I've always enjoyed listening to/watching their live performances over their studio albums. I didn't check this album out expecting anything jawdropping, and I was right. It's a solid, fast album which deserves the occasional spin. Nothing outstanding, nothing bad. Everyday Pox is a great song, and my favorite from the album. Everyday Pox

![]() Psycroptic The Inherited Repression This album can be summed up in three words. Riffs. Vocals doo-doo. The guiatr work in this album is phenomenal. Almost nonstop headbanging and air guitar playing are almost a neccessity when listening to this! However, the vocals really bring it down. I hadn't really listened to much Psycroptic before this album, but it does sound like the vocalist from the first couple albums was much better, it seems that their current vocalist has gotten progressively worse on this album. What makes it even more frusterating is there are some glimpses of good vocals here and there. I almost think their vocalist sounds more hardcore than death metal. Another thing this album has going for it is the outstanding production. Man, I wish the vocals were even decent, cause these riffs are killer. Carriers of The Plague

![]() Grave Endless Procession of Souls Grave is another band like Napalm Death to me, in that I prefer them live over their studio performances. Man, they were great when I saw them in 2011. I think this album is stronger than their last few efforts, but it's nothing outstanding. I really like the instrumental intro, and track 2 Amongst Marble and The Dead is fucking excellent. Opening is simple and heavy and then gets very fast rather quickly. I was super excited after this one, but it went downhill from there. Don't get me wrong, there are good songs and plenty of good riffs on this album, but everything from track 5 on seemed a little stale and repetitve. Still a decent album and worth a spin now and then. Hope these guys tour North America again soon, as I just missed them a few months ago. Full Album

![]() Dehumanized Controlled Elite The long awaited return of the old school NYDM slam dudes. A bit of a change in their style, however. They have a new vocalist (who's very average, unfortunately), and they seem to be more straight up death metal than their original slam sound. There are still slams here and there, and they're very good. However, there just aren't e-fucking-nough!!! Hell, the slams are actually awesome. On a positive note, I do applaud the guitar work in general. More complex and varied than their first album. The album would certianly have been higher if they had their old vocalist, and the songs featured as many slams as their first record did. A shame, because as I said, the slams are sick. Might go see these guys in Montreal next week. Will be their first ever show in Canada. His Burden

![]() Infant Annihilator The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution I happened upon these guys by strange conincidence. I was at darklyrics.com looking for Incantation lyrics, and saw these guys listed and thought "Hmm, Infant Annihilator. How wonderful." Then I read the lyrics, which were predominantly Anti-Christian, which was bizarre considering their name so I thought I'd check them out. Definately the best deathcore album I've listened to this year. In fact, it's the last good deathcore album I've heard since All Shall Perish's 'This Is Where It Ends'. This reminds reminds me a lot of Whitechapel's 'The Somatic Defilement.' Straightforward, brutal deathcore. Yes, there are some simple breakdowns, but they aren't everywhere like most deathcore. They seem like decent musicians, and there aresome memorable riffs here and there. And to my suprise, some slam is thrown around, both vocally and musically. Really heavy when they do that. The 'A Serbian Film' newborn porn intro is forgettable, but tracks 2-3 are simply awesome. There are also 16 songs on the album, but the band does a decent job of not getting stale. Most songs are discernable, a rarity for a lot of death metal, especially deathcore. I know we've spoke about how deathcore is a "dead" subgenre, and it very well could be. These dudes show that deathcore can still be done, and done well. Side note: Am totally fine w/ deathcore being done. Just happy these guys made a good deatchore record, I guess you'd say. Full Album

![]() Pathology The Time of Great Purification You always know what to expect from Pathology. A solid brutal death metal album w/ some slam to it. This one is no different. While I'm not big on the vocalist they used on this album, Jonathan Huber. He has some decent gutterals, but a lot of them have a slight pig squeal to them. Only slam vocalist that has a slight pig squeal to their normal gutterals that I like is Mike Majewski. And Wayne Knupp, RIP. LOL, I actually thought Pathology sounded great when I saw them play w/ Shawn Whitaker of Insidious Decrepancy. Happy to see Matti Way is back. The slams are still there, and I think it's bstter musically than their last effort. First 2 tracks, and track 5 are the best tunes here. Definately a good record if you want to break stuff .Tyrannical Decay Asphyxiation Through Consumption

Not that it really matters for the music on album but I still think these drums have to be machine or sped up they just don't sound human to me at several points.
