The Target Center has a capacity of 20,000: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Center So that means they didn't sell enough tickets and had to cut the arena in half!!!!!! WTF?!?! But in 2010, they sold the MN. State Fair out which holds over 15,000! I just don't get it.

I feel like the capacity numbers are kind of low. Felt like more then 9000 people at the Phoenix.

I had thought about that too. The Garden in Boston holds over 18,000. Then I did the smart thing & read this.

RUSH fan site RushIsABand.com has posted the official Billboard Boxscore attendance and sales figures for all but one of the U.S. dates on the band's 2012 "Clockwork Angels" tour; only the Atlanta show numbers are still pending along with the six Canadian dates. Eight of the 28 shows reported — Manchester, Bridgeport, Newark, Buffalo, San Jose, Universal City, Dallas and Houston — were sellouts. The highest-grossing date on the tour was the September 15 show in Chicago, which grossed $1,113,292. The most-attended show was the sold-out October 26 show in Buffalo where 13,215 fans filled the First Niagara Center.

Note that the capacity figures reported do not always correspond to the actual physical capacity of the venue; it reflects the number of tickets that were made available for sale.

Well, with all that being said, they normally sell around 15,000 tickets per show. So, either they're losing popularity or ticket prices were too high. I have a feeling it's more of the latter though.

isnt rush's stage pretty huge? big screens too?

not to mention i tend to believe that publicized capacities dont take realistic production into account

There's no way their production at huge arenas like Target Center would cut the capacity that much. Either way, they only sold 8,000 tickets total there.

This show was on a monday. Not exactly the night of the week a lot of people go to concerts. Sometimes if ticket sales a sluggish for arena shows they will put the stage more towards the center of the floor, pretty much blocking half of the capacity out. I've seen and heard this happen to bands before and Rush is certainly no exception to that.

Rush's stage wasn't that big on this tour. Besides the video screen in the back there wasn't anything else taking up much room and from wherever you were sitting there was nothing blocking your view of the stage. More than likely, ticket sales were slow for the Target Center show and the stage was moved further up on the arena floor in order for it to look more full than it was. That's why they've probably got such a low capacity for it.

It's cool to see my show in Buffalo sell out. But it was on a friday night and they didn't play here on the last tour so everything aligned perfectly that night for it to be a sell out.

Since Toronto is so close to us, we've always been like one of Rush's second homes. Along with Cleveland we were probably among the first cities in America to embrace them.

The Canadian dates aren't listed but I know the first show they scheduled in Toronto sold out and they added a second show.
