I was gonna post something similar but not as extreme. I'd say:
1. Paint it Black 2. band announces retirement (for real this time)

I'm gonna have to correct you here. The band have never once announced that they were gonna retire and have never once had a farewell tour. The closest they ever came to ending was when they broke up for a few years back in the mid 80s, that's it. All the retirement rumors have been media generated and even Jagger said they have no immediate plans to stop and why should they? People are still willing to pay money to see them and even though Jagger will be 70 next year his still one of the best live frontmen out there and puts guys decades younger than him to shame.

Steel Wheels was the reunion album/tour but it was never a farewell. My dad is one of the biggest Rolling Stones fanboys ever. I grew up listening to all the vinyls my dad had from them and he had everything. Since Steel Wheels they've released new albums in '94, '97 and 2005.
