That is a fair assessment, and you are right to an extent. Except rather then giving it a rating for all time use, when I rate an album a 9.5 or 10, I usually just mean that more towards the best of the year rather then the best ever (although one album in particular is one of my favorites of all time)

But I probably won't rate my top 20, as they are my top 20. Rating them the highest seems redundant.

This list was seriously awesome, man. I saw a ton of stuff I like in here, and plenty I hadn't listened to that were really good. I have 3 of the same albums as you in the top 20, it's obvious you're WAY more of a prog fan then I am. My top finds in here were those Dragged into Sunlight and In Mourning albums; I've seen the names tossed around but never ckecked them out, sick stuff! Great work, I will definitely read this if you keep doing it next year!

Nig BTBAM are the opposite of underrated. Hipsters??? okay everyone who listens to em puts em in the OMG best band evas sooo technical. Dont get me wrong great band but cmon that statement you made is just wrong.

Positive note I dug this! Need to check out more Torche and Periphery again. Also Converge is getting tons of love on these boards.

Well i've been a BTBAM fan since I first saw Mordecai on Headbanger's ball back in the day. It has nothing to do with being hip or loved by hipsters, they are a great Prog band.

I do find it very funny that this thread pretty much lost all momentum when I said my peace about BTBAM. It's as if nothing else I've said matters.

Cool thread. I know the obvious has been pointed out, but holy shit that's a lot of albums.

I love seeing someone who listens to basically every style of heavy music and doesn't worry about how popular or cool something is.

I'm not a big Devy fan but I enjoyed Epicloud quite a bit. Enjoyed it much more than his last few albums.
