GarageMetal468's spectacularful year of 2012
Almost done ranking my top 20 of 2012. I will also include:
Top 20 live bands this year (both bands I've seen before and for the first time) Best events that happened at shows Albums I hated/didn't like/pissed me off/etc. And so on, and so forth. So yeah, I'll start this at some point, hopefully later today, tomorrow at the latest.

If me picking you up to crowdsurf during Anthrax at Mayhem fest isn't one of your best events at a show then your list is void.

Unleashed - Odalheim ![]() Unleashed doing what they do best: Write 3-4 minute songs of unrelenting Swedish death metal. Going along with the viking theme they've had for some time, this album is pretty damn solid from front to back. Highlights: Fimbulwinter Gathering the Battalions By Celtic and British Shores

Goatwhore - Blood for the Master ![]() I believe that this was the first 2012 album I had purchased when they toured with Lock Up. I think this was also one of the first 2012 albums I listened to as well. Goatwhore continue their assault of blackened death metal with this album. Riffs from front to back and ridiculous song titles, I knew this album would be one of my favorites of the year. Highlights: Collapse in Eternal Worth When Steel and Bone Meet Judgement of the Bleeding Crown (live, can't find any of the tracks alone on youtube...)

Grand Supreme Blood Court - Bow Down Before the Blood Court ![]() Look at that band name. That album title. The album art. The fucking song titles! I don't know about everyone else, but I believed that this was one of the most hyped releases of the year. And what does it end up being like? Essentially Asphyx pt. 2, but what do you expect? Everyone in the band is currently or was in Asphyx, as well as a guy in Hail of Bullets. Still some solid death doom with a heavy ass guitar sound, and Martin Van Drunen delivering as always. Highlights: Bow Down Before the Blood Court Veredictum Sanguis Grand Justice, Grand Pain

Hooded Menace - Effigies of Evil ![]() I was kind of skeptical about this album when they released the artwork... Totally different from the first two, as well as the inverted cross dropped from the logo (which honestly looked really cool). I was scared they were gonna go in a totally different direction, but thankfully I was proven wrong. Fulfill the Curse is one awesome death/doom album with one of the most creepy atmospheres ever, so it would be hard to top that. In my opinion, they didn't with Effigies of Evil, but they sure did come close. They didn't change their sound one bit and the heaviness, incredibly low vocals, and the crushing killer riffs are still there. Hooded Menace are fucking great at what they do, and they continue to prove it on this album! Highlights: Effigies of Evil (drum cam, again, hard to find songs alone on youtube) Crumbling Insanity Evoken Vulgarity

Cannibal Corpse - Torture ![]() Cannibal Corpse are back at it again! While Evisceration Plague was okay, Torture is absolutely crazy. It skips the bullshit and starts incredibly fucking fast and just beats the hell out of you the entire time. Granted, it's Cannibal Corpse so it's nothing new, but they know what they've been doing for the best 20+ years as well as how to do it, and they don't need to change anything. I'm gonna stop posting highlights. It's becoming a pain in the ass to find tracks alone on youtube.
