17. Malignancy - Eugenics


I'd only heard of Malignancy before this release, so I figured I'd check out their new album. I'm glad I did, this album is awesome. Pinch harmonics very two seconds, sick vocals, and technicality without compromising songwriting. I'm looking forward to seeing what these guys do next and I'm stoked to see them monday with Dying Fetus. Any fan of brutal death should really check this out, it's good stuff

18. Metric - Synthetica


Speaking of bestial black metal from Canada, here's Metric. With Synthetica, the band brings more good vibes and extremely chill music. While I think I prefer Fantasies slightly more, this is still a solid album with quite a bit of experimentation. Youth Without Youth is my jam. I recommend this to anyone who likes laid back synth-driven music.

that first sentence gave me a good laugh. I saw Metric perform a good chunk of this album on Sunday. It was cool for the most part, but some of the songs were really boring live. Plus, they cut songs from Fantasies, so that sucked.

I can imagine, it's a lot softer than Fantasies which is cool for listening but I wouldn't want to stand there for a full set of it.

I was mad when they cut Satellite Mind and Sick Muse, then played an acoustic version of Gimme Sympathy. It was lame.

16. Abominable Putridity - The Anomalies Of Artificial Origin


Look at that fucking cover art. This album took forever to get released but its awesome. Overproduced (in a good way?) slam with Matti Way of Disgorge, Cinerary, Pathology fame on vocals. It's just a solid brutal death album, simple as that, and Matti's vocals are excellent as always. Seriously though, that fucking album cover.....

WHAT???????? I woulda been pissed. Those two are probably the best from Fantasies.

They also didn't do Monster Hospital. It sucked. They were playing those songs every night of the tour, but cut it at my show. I'm not seeing them live again.

19. Revenge - Scum.Collapse.Eradication


While The Industrialist suffered from blending together, Revenge has a winning formula and sticks with it for the duration of this album. Absolutely no distinction between songs, just some of the most vile, hateful, and bestial black metal ever recorded. It's like a passage to hell was ripped open in the middle of a freeway and all drivers crashed and fell to their demise. Good stuff. There isn't enough distinction for me to rank this higher than some others but this album fucking owns

I still need to check this out. I get down with Revenge.

15. Ragnarok - Malediction


Fantastic Norweigian black metal. Nothing necessarily new here but its well written and interesting to listen to, lots of tremelo picking goodness. For any fan of black metal

14. Priapus/Old Painless Split


This split rules, specifically the Priapus side. Priapus is a three piece (drums/guitar/vocals) that totally rips in the vein of Assuck and such, just very pissed off stuff here. I highly reccommend any fan of grind check out this split and their 2011 release Air Loom. Old Painless, on the other hand, is (I believe) a 2 piece noisy grind band with throat searing high vocals. This guy makes Jon Chang sound like Chris Barnes. Seriously.
