It's pretty hard to say that songs like The Siege sound like pop music...

but it could be said that they do have more female-presence in their music. They've had female vocals present since Ven though.

Odd review. Pop music? Have you heard Anna in The Siege? They always had backup vocals that were female and were more chanting/melodic.

I guess I mean more of a metalcore sound than "pop" lol I sort of put them in the same category. And I just don't like her voice, I find it unpleasant.

Anyway I didn't mean to turn this into trash-talking eluveitie. I respect them and I will attempt to listen to Helvetios again. But why no songs from their first 2, arguably better albums? Seems like they just made a very conscious departure to a more mainstream sound. Bands that ignore their early material always upset me, and a band that doesn't play a single song out of 2 albums is strange indeed.

They put me more in the mind of "post-Gothenburg" than metalcore. Like Damage Done-era Dark Tranquillity. Take the song "Your Gaulish War" for example... it's basically a DT song with added folk instruments.

I suppose I agree with that. I love their first 3 albums and I guess I could draw a parallel there with a folky DT. The problem is I feel like they are moving towards a folky new In Flames :-p
