Megadeth -- Boise, ID -- December 2nd, 2012

Venue: Knitting Factory
Source: Me

Trust
Hangar 18
Public Enemy #1
Skin o' My Teeth
Symphony of Destruction
Architecture of Aggression
Foreclosure of a Dream
Sweating Bullets
This Was My Life
Countdown to Extinction
High Speed Dirt
Psychotron
Captive Honour
Ashes in Your Mouth
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
---
Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

This was my third time seeing Megadeth and others have reviewed this tour so I'll try to be brief. Both the sound and overall production with the 3 TV screens were better than when I saw Megadeth in this same venue a couple of years ago on the Rust In Peace anniversary tour so that was good. The bad was that I think Rust In Peace was far more worthy of an anniversary tour than CTE was, although a lot of CTE has grown on me over the years so this wasn't terrible. The crowd seemed more into the show than last time, even singing along with songs like Trust as well as the old classics like Peace Sells.

I have to deduct several points for no Wake Up Dead, the set seemed pretty short so it's not like they couldn't have fit it in somewhere. I was also surprised that it seemed Dave was only playing half the solos if that and the new guy who I don't know was playing a lot of them but he did well.

Dave is still not over the fact that the former mayor of my fine town called him a devil once, and he told us that as a youth he had run away from home and lived in Idaho for a short time, I had never heard that before. Overall a good show if a bit short, best performances for me were Symphony of Destruction, Ashes in Your Mouth and Holy Wars was fantastic, a good way to end the show.

Chris Broderick is the other guitar player and in my opinion one of the best in the world. He has previously played with Jag Panzer and Nevermore. The dude amazes me everytime I see him and hes the main reason I try not to miss a Megadeth show in my area. I just saw this tour last month and am now a much bigger fan of Countdown than I ever was. "Ashes" is just killer live. Glad you had a good time.

I also wish the set was a lil longer. Would love to hear "Hook in Mouth", "Rattlehead", "Reckoning Day", "99 Ways to Die", "Secret Place" and rotate in and out a few songs from The System Has Failed, United Abominations and Endgame.

I wore my Jag Panzer t-shirt at the show in Myrtle Beach. Some drunkard ahead of me in line to get in says, "Jag Panzer? I have no idea who that is." I did not have a witty reply at the time, so simply said that it was Chris Broderick's old band. He says something like "Matthew Broderick?? Cool, Ferris Beuller is playing guitar for Megadeth!"
