Epica -- Washington, DC -- October 23rd, 2012
![]() Full review: http://heavymetalcowboysteve.blogspo...-10232012.html (A bit late cause of site outages and days off of work) First night of the tour! In Washington DC at the posh Howard Theater. Blackguard sounded good, similar set to their headline show the previous week. System Divide was pleasantly surprisingly, and got photos with the female singer. Insomnium was very good, even won people over who had never heard of them before Alestorm was great- despite some setlist... complaints. Epica sounded great as well, but had a tired crowd after the energetic Alestorm pits Highlights were: System Divide singer, falling down during Blackguard pit, guy from Epica saying they should come to Jaxx next time, Alestorm pits, the Disco lights during Cry For the Moon, and the 60's dance The Swim that Simone did during same song Setlists: Blackguard (6:25- 7)
System Divide (7:15 - 7:44)
Insomnium (8:06- 8:31)
Alestorm (8:47 - 9:36)
Epica (10:04 - 11:38)

I would have loved to see Insomnium, but won't pay 30$ for less than 30 minutes and no old songs...

-one ticket was $14 (2/1 deal, had to buy 2). -Epica was headlining, not Insomnium, were you expecting a longer set? |

Blackguard? Did Destiny Potato drop off the bill?

But Insomnium so rarely comes over here from what I hear that I was fine with hearing them at all! |

From what the chap in Epica said, Destiny Potato dropped off/canceled for some reason and the eternally touring Blackguard was drafted into service. I don't know the how or why, there must be some update on the um Destiny Potato website or something I would imagine

Insomnium started with Inertia + Only One Who Waits in Worcester, and took out Where the Last Wave Broke (which I would have loved to hear, but whatever) and put Unsung after Through the Shadows. Blackguard was way lame to me, I really lost interst and them, and System Divide was pretty boring I left during Alestorm's first song cause the gimmick got old to me. Overall, the lineup wasn;t great to me, but I HAD to see Insomnium, and I'm glad I did.
