20. Burzum - Fallen

I have to admit that I don't actually have a lot of experience with Burzum's material, but I remember not being all that impressed with the release previous to this one. It was one of those albums where it was easy to acknowledge the talent involved, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. This album, however, is quite different. It's much more melodic than I ever expected a band such as Burzum to be, and there are periods of quietness and atmospherics and just sheer...beauty. I mean, the track "Jeg Faller" alone is worth the price of admission - it's literally trance-inducing. In short, this is officially the album that got me interested in Burzum.

19. Obscura - Omnivium

Now this guy right here knows what the fuck he is talking about.

Aside from the above review, I'll just throw this little teaser out there. I don't know where the actual post is, but somewhere on this forum I can remember making a comment that this album might be the best tech death album that would come out last year, and for a while I was right, but eventually there was actually one album that topped it. Still, tracks such as "Septuagint", "Vortex Omnivium" and especially the extremely heavy "Ocean Gateways" prove that this is still one of the best technical death metal albums ever made.
