EDIT: From best to worst crowds I've play for

(Best)
Folk Metal
Death Metal
Thrash Metal
Black Metal
(Worst)

It's odd.... since we are way more Black than Folk, of course, so you think it'd be different
I would expect thrash metal crowds to be above death metal, but the rest makes sense. I've only been to one folk metal show (Finntroll / Ensiferum), but I was really surprised by how much energy everybody put out.

Yeah . Its a bummer since a lot of my friends are Black Metal, and I like playing Black Metal shows, but everyone just stands there and looks all .

Maybe I haven't played enough Thrash shows yet, but back when we opened for Decapitated last year the crowd was INSANE. They treated us as if we were one of the touring bands, which was SICK. Even the more Death Metal oriented show we did in Spokane, the crowd there was baller, and someone asked for my autograph!

On a side note, I am ordering shot glasses for my band .

Were you expecting otherwise? Whenever I'm at BM shows I feel like I'm the only one showing a pulse.

Black Metal shows are definitely some of the most boring shows to go to because showing interest is FARRRRRRRRRRRR too mainstream.

I'm sure it'll be pretty good actually! It's being put on by a group here called WADM, they like to party and show support and energy at shows, so.... hopefully.... AT LEAST FOR OUR SET it will be good

Good stuff! I've only been to a couple folk metal shows, but I am always amazed at how great the crowd response is. When I saw Finntroll/Ensiferum, everyone was singing all the words (atleast for Ensiferum) and just going nuts. Alestorm had one of the craziest crowds of any show I had been to at the time, the place was packed and there were nonstop moshers/crowdsurfers the entire time! I feel like with the more extreme black and even some death shows, people seem too cool to get really into it.
