Well, from one listener's perspective, I never read any of the hype and thought it was pretty awesome. In fact, not only is it their best work by far, but it was in my top 25 albums of 2011.

I seem to remember that, after I had already decided that I loved it, I saw it at or near the top of one year-end list, but I don't remember it being on many of them. My memory could be failing me on that one, though. After all, I'm old as fuck.

I never saw too much hype for it but it was Decibel's album of the year if I remember correctly.
