Regarding Gojira being back January/February, my buddy works at Peabody's and they are working out the details on them coming back in January. I think money is the only issue right now, but hopefully it works out.

They also mentioned the January/February tour at the Chicago show. I'd guess that was when the "real" North American headlining tour was planned for. They were supposed to be on the Lamb of God tour until, what, end of September? Now they'll just go home early, play some shows in Europe, spend the holidays at home, then come back for another tour? Works for me.

Bump.

Gig report with links to videos ended up at the bottom of the previous page, and I'm not sure if anyone saw them, so...click back one page for the gig report, or click below for video clips (audio gets crappy in places, but video isn't too bad on these):

Heaviest Matter
Backbone
Flying Whales
Oroborus
Explosia

One thing I did find interesting, though, is that while we were waiting for Gojira to take the stage, they played “The Pot” by TOOL over the PA, and I thought to myself that, in a funny kind of way, the two bands actually had quite a few things in common – what with the progressive elements they both like to use, the wicked good bass lines, the tribal drumming style, the thoughtful lyrics, etc. Anyways, I took it as a sign that something awesome was about to happen, and it got me even more jazzed. I guess you just had to be there.
at the 1st NYC show they were playing the whole 10,000 Days album over the PA. (Made it to Wings Part 2, then Gojira went on)

If I could find someone to pay me what I get paid for doing my real job, but instead all I would have to do is write album and gig reviews full time, life would be fucking perfect.

EDIT: Plus, all my shit would be on time instead of ridiculouslly late.

Nice. I'll bet it was Gojira's music of choice for the run-up to their set then.

By the way, they also played "Fiddle and the Drum" (the last track on A Perfect Circle's "Emotive" album) during the time when they were taking their final bows and shaking hands with audience members after the encore. That was fucking tits as well.
