Why would you spend that much cash on what are mostly fairly ordinary, widely available releases, at festival prices? Especially German prices.

Would expect to pay half that, personally. New.

How are most of those widely available? Most of them I've never seen for sale in North America, and if you order them online you'd have to do them in separate Amazon orders, which has really expensive shipping. There are probably a few I overpaid for, but overall, it would have cost me a lot more to buy these here.

Wow. Is buying music really that bad in the US? Almost all of those are common as fuck and usually very cheap. Online that is.
In terms of Europe, Germany is the worst place to buy music. Their prices are just stupid. Although that mail order place with the yellow and black signs whose name I can't remember who turn up at all the festivals aren't bad... they often have a bunch of 5 euro stuff, which is usually old and cheaper elsewhere, but at least it's not too extortionate.

Yup. The US is better than Canada, but neither are great. Shipping from Amazon.com is like $7 a CD, so I rarely order from the US unless I'm doing a huge Century Media or CD Universe order. Any chance I get to buy stuff that's somewhat hard to find, I take it.
Granted, not all of those are impossible to find; Darkthrone, Immortal, and Motorhead are obviously quite easy to find, but things like Bathory and Running Wild are usually quite expensive.

Just for an example, a chain record store (FYE, Best Buy, etc.) might have, out of those listed, Darkthrone, Immortal, Motorhead, Obituary...that's about it. And I'm not talking a ton of albums by those bands, I mean like 1 or 2 copies of their newest release, and maybe 1 or 2 of a "classic" release.

Nope, I went back to my camper after buying them, so I only had hold onto the last 6 or so CDs I bought on the final day.

Best Buy in the US is so much better than the ones here for CDs. We have one HMV in Toronto which has rare albums, but most CDs are at least $20. There's a Bathory CD there for $42, which has been there as long as I can remember.
