Prong -- Reading, PA -- July 30th, 2012

Great headlining gig from PRONG before they start their opening stint with Static-X (huh?!). They played in the small room inside of the Reverb, which is referred to as the "Stereokiller Side Stage." It's a small, hot room that holds about 120 people. I'd say there was maybe 100 people at the show.

The first band, 20til8, are friends of mine. Great local hard core metal band that throw cake into the crowd at every show. They only played 6 songs even though 7 were on the set list.

20til8
1. Anthem
2. Soldiers Lament
3. Your Loss
4. Caterpillar Stomp
5. Pain
6. One Voice One Scene

The next band, Spinebelt, was also local but I have never heard of them before. They seemed to draw a pretty big crowd, lots of ladies. They were kind of industrial metal. I liked them a lot. I'd check them out again if they play around here. I wasn't familiar with them, so I have no set list for them. They played about 35 minutes and did maybe 7 or 8 songs.

Next up was PRONG!! I have been to at least a dozen PRONG shows between the late 80's and the mid 90's but I haven't seen them since 1997. I have seen Tommy many times with Danzig and once with Ministry. Tommy looks exactly the same as he did in 1990! The dude doesn't age! And he sounded fantastic! The new guys were cool too. The list was perfect in my eyes. Lots from Beg To Differ, Prove You Wrong, and Cleansing, their 3 best albums to me. Surprisingly only 2 from the new CD. But a great set nonetheless. They had "Carved Into Stone" and "London Dungeon" on the list but didn't play them, instead they did "Prove You Wrong" which wasn't on the printed list. They are playing near me in 2 weeks but I'm not sure I'm gonna go and watch them play for 30 minutes in front of a Static-X crowd. This show couldn't be topped anyway. Here's the set list:

PRONG
1. For Dear Life
2. Beg To Differ
3. Irrelevant Thoughts
4. Unconditional
5. Eternal Heat
6. Lost And Found
7. Cut Rate
8. Rude Awakening
9. Revenge Best Served Cold
10. Close The Door
11. Another Worldly Device
12. Whose Fist Is This Anyway?
13. Dark Signs
14. Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck
15. Power Of The Damager
encore
16. Prove You Wrong

Yeah, KING'S X is my favorite band, as I'm sure you can tell from my name and pic. They are opening for Kansas of all bands but any time I can see KING'S X I'm a happy man.

Any Prong headline set is a great set. Haven't seen a couple of those played in awhile. Not playing enough off Carved album. Even w/ the great headline set I got 5 years from Prong, & got no Lost & Found. This was the set I got: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prong/...-5bd71f20.html

King's X is one of my favorites as well, and it's been way too long since I've seen them. Kansas is actually a good live band, so you should be in for a good show. I expect a set list will be posted!
