From what I have heard over the years I was under the impression the “SOS Tour” did pretty well in other cities other than Chicago. I know they played Milwaukee the night before Chicago and I heard that show was at the much larger Eagles Ballroom. From what I heard it wasn’t sold out or anything, but the Eagles Ballroom is huge and is part of a multi-venue complex and is the largest room in the venue and I can only assume if the show drew poorly it would have been in one of the smaller halls.

PS: at the Chicago show, during Obituary everyone was chanting for “Body Bag” too!

There are a couple of reasons I can think of for the sparse attendance:
1) They might have played San Antonio as well (75 miles away and a much bigger, better metal scene, with dudes from Mexico more likely to show up);
2) Austin just sucked for metal shows back then (and might still now - I don't know). The only packed club show I can remember was Kreator/Blitzspeer/Morgoth in the spring of 1991 on the Coma of Souls tour. I saw Candlemass with about 25 other people, Annihilator with about 40, etc., at the same venue. The poplulation of the city was much smaller then - about 500k, compared to about 1.2 million now.

Has anyone had a chance to download the Obituary set yet? It was my first time taking an old tape and converting it to digital media so I was just making sure I did everything OK before I move on to the Sepultura set. Let me know if I f’d anything up or if I did it right and can proceed forward and do the same with the Sepultura set. Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to upload it to YouTube by any chance? I'd tell you, but I don't trust download bootlegs anymore (the last one I downloaded fucked my last computer to shit - it still hasn't been fixed because I have no real money).

Give me another day or two. YouTube won't let you upload without a Google account and I don't have one so I need to set up an account from scratch. The main reason I used Deposit Files and File Factory was 'cuz I could just "upload & go" without having to sign up for anything.

I really want to be helpful and upload this stuff to YouTube, but YouTube is being a royal pain in the ass.

First off, when I signed up for YouTube since they are now part of the Google Empire I was forced into creating a Gmail account as well as a Google+ account in addition to the YouTube account. A little aggravating, but not too serious. It’s just I have a pet peeve about being forced into signing up for services I don’t want or need. All I wanted was a YouTube account; I already have a few separate email accounts for various needs: one for friends & family, one for job hunting and one for spam & porn - I don’t need anymore! As for social networking I am totally happy with Facebook. I do have a few friends using Google+, but they keyword there is “few” and those few still use Facebook anyway, I don’t need or want Google+!

Once I was done with creating my Google Empire account I ran into more problems: YouTube wouldn’t accept the files since I used FLAC, so now I need to re-encode the files as MP3. I realize these are bootlegs and are “inferior” quality to begin with and using a lossless codec may seem a bit redundant, but the reason I choose FLAC is that if you decide to burn the show to an old school CD there won't be any gaps between the songs so if you listen to the CD on a real stereo and not the PC the songs will segue and blend in like one giant song like a professional live CD … well, as professional as an audience bootleg can be.

I already went through the trouble of creating the YouTube account, so I will upload it eventually, but please give me another few days since I need to re-encode the files.

In the meantime, while I understand your trepidation on downloading from the links I already provided, I can assure you they are virus free. They were clean on my end, so as long as Deposit Files and File Factory aren’t tacking anything on you should be fine. But the keyword there is “should” - I’m not taking any responsibility if you get whacked again.

Don't bother making an MP3. Youtube just doesn't accept audio files. You would have to upload it as a video, which isn't hard just tack the audio into your computers basic video editing program (windows has windows movie maker and macs have iMovie, Final Cut or Quicktime Video) and just export the project with like an image in the videos place. The file would then be in a video container that you can upload to youtube.
