The Black Dahlia Murder -- Moscow, Russia -- July 2nd, 2012
Another insane performance from one of the tightest metal bands around. Rotten Sound opened up the show (special guests in place of Nasum who couldn't make it), and played a solid set. I didn't get a setlist, but I did meet the band in between their set and Black Dahlia's. Everyone was stoked to have finally come to Russia, and I got everybody to sign my copy of Cursed. I liked Keijo better when I saw him fill in for Nasum at Graspop, but that's probably because I prefer Nasum over Rotten Sound. Black Dahlia Murder came on half an hour after Rotten Sound finished, and played for about an hour and a half. As always, the crowd went apeshit for them; I actually made it through most of their set up-front (got to sing into the mic during 'Statutory Ape'), leaving only when it got too intense for me to handle. What happened was that one dude didn't make the jump, and ended up back on top of me merely seconds after jumping; to make matters worse, another guy onstage waiting to jump didn't have enough patience to wait for the guy on top of me to get down, and jumped too. Fast forward another few seconds and I had four people on top of me. While I was trying to get them off of me, a fifth guy accidentally stepped on my hand that I had on the monitor in front fo me for support, which hurt like a bitch. I'm going to get that shit checked out today, but I doubt it's anything serious; probably just a sprain. Anyway, that shit went down during 'Salted Blood', so I watched the rest of their set from the back. I didn't catch anything, but I did get the band to sign a setlist of theirs I caught back at Summer Slaughter last year. This was definitely the best Black Dahlia performance out of the four I've seen, with Ryan getting better and better at his solos live, and Trevor's vocals becoming better by each tour. Their new bassist (ex-Despised Icon) was pretty fucking good, too. Here's Black Dahlia's set, a bit out of order:
A Shrine to Madness Moonlight Equilibrium What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse Statutory Ape Malenchantments of the Necrosphere The Window Necropolis Den of the Picquerist Carbonized in Cruciform Everything Went Black Miasma On Stirring Seas of Salted Blood I Will Return Blood in the Ink Deathmask Divine Unhallowed Funeral Thirst

Completely fair trade off. One amazing band for another amazing band. Sounds like a good time!

EDIT: Someone on Setlist.fm added 'Unhallowed' to the setlist. I'm not too familiar with the song, so it may have been played for all I know.

Unhallowed is just that breakdown intro into Funeral Thirst. Also ya got The Window!!!
Fav song of Ritual. Sweet review, sounded like a good ol' time minus the bodies on top of you of course.

Ive seen Black Dahlia 4 times though, most recently with Exhumed and Fuck The Facts. Cant say BDM's ever put on a bad performance from what ive witnessed.

Now that's a sexy TBDM set. The Window live is fucking orgasmic.

They need to come back to St Louis, they haven't been here at all for Ritual, and they were here once for Deflorate (They were at Mayhem before Deflorate came out, but that doesn't count)

Found a video of Rotten Sound's set on YT. Not sure if this is the whole thing, but I'd appreciate it if anyone decided to watch this and write out their setlist.
