Why the hell do you have three cars and a boat?

I actually bought the boat before the cars and the house, and even before I was married (although I was engaged at the time, I believe).

It's been a thing in my family ever since I was a kid - I practically grew up on Lake Erie. Fishing, skiing, swimming, etc. Now it's something I'm passing on to my kids, and so far they seem to love it. My five year old loves fishing and getting towed around in the tube. Relax, it isn't a yacht or anything. It's a 23' cruiser with a small cabin that we trailer around, and it's 22 years old. I paid it off around 8-10 years ago.

The story behind the car thing is that I drive a minivan, my wife drives the SUV (which we use to tow the boat), and we have the Mustang GT convertible that I've talked about on here before. It's our fun car. I store it in the winter so it doesn't get all trashed, and the miles are ultra-low (only ~25,000, and it's seven years old), so it'll retain its value for when I pass it on to my kids, hopefully.

It might sound like I'm filthy rich, but really I'm not. I make a good living, but we have a lot of bills (and also some debt, unfortunately). Raising a family is expensive, especially when you have a few nice things to go along with all the necessities.

It's comfortable and it has room to haul all my shit or my family or whatever I need to do - and it gets decent mileage for a vehicle that can do that. A few members of this forum have been fortunate enough to have been transported in the metal van, and they are now better persons for it.

I know, that's always my fear. I really don't like it when people focus on that part of the story, because to me it's more about enjoying life while you can and worrying about things like money later, but I can't help what people are gonna think. I definitely count my blessings, though, that's for damn sure.
