Cannibal Corpse -- Moscow, Russia -- June 2nd, 2012

Fucking awesome night; My first Cannibal Corpse show, and their fifth show in Moscow.

I showed up about three hours before doors, and getting out of my cab, noticed a strangely large number of people in line. However, the closer I got to the venue, the more I realized that the people there weren't metalheads; they were wiggers. It turned out there was another show going on at the same venue at the adjacent room; I would remain one of about five Cannibal Corpse fans in the crowd of wiggers until about an hour before doors, when all of the other people coming for CC showed up. I found out from someone there that Behemoth are coming here in September, as well as Destruction (again!) and Kreator, which is great news. I also found out that Cannibal Corpse's first show in Russia happened in May 1993; they played at the largest stadium in Moscow, a concert which can be watched here.

Cannibal Corpse began their set an hour after doors to a packed venue, and boy, were they fucking great. Fisher's vocals are among the deepest I've ever heard live, and Webster... well, Webster is definitely the best live bassist I've ever seen. Those fingers are fucking magic. I'm a bit bummed that I won't be seeing them at Graspop later on this month after tonight, as well as disappointed about not hearing Decency Defied, A Skull Full of Maggots, or Fucked With a Knife. About the latter complaint, I think (to a lesser extent) that Cannibal Corpse setlist-wise are like Clutch; to hear all the songs you want to hear, you've got to see them more than once. I recommend seeing Cannibal Corpse to any fans of extreme metal, and hope that it'll take less than three years for them to come back to Moscow next time.

Cannibal Corpse

Demented Aggression
Sarcophagic Frenzy
Scourge of Iron
Disfigured
Evisceration Plague
The Time to Kill is Now ("What time is it, Moscow?!" "/some dude yells out the time" "No, motherfuckers, it's time to kill!")
Crucifier Avenged
Covered With Sores
Born in a Casket
I Cum Blood ("Fellas, this song is about shooting blood from your cock!")
Savage Butchery
Encased in Concrete
As Deep as the Knife Will Go ("This song is about what I like to do on my weekend... eat some fucking cake!")
The Wretched Spawn
I Will Kill You
Priests of Sodom ("This song is dedicated to women!")
Unleashing the Bloodthirsty
Make Them Suffer
Hammer Smashed Face
Stripped, Raped and Strangled

They haven't played Decency Defied in years, so I wouldn't even expect it at this point.

They played it for the first time since 2007 in Germany in February.

Yeah they really should bring back Decency Defied. There sets are always great anyway but I've been waiting to hear that one.

And though I've heard it twice already I still want Pit of Zombies in the set for SS.

Back when my guitarist saw them years ago there was a silence in between songs, so he decided to yell "VAGINA!!" and completely fucked up George and made him say "I'm up here trying to be all mean and evil, and now you've got me thinking about vaginas!"

Anyway, I cannot wait to finally catch Cannibal Corpse, brutal set.

The new album kicks ass, this set is pretty damn solid!!! Seen CC 3 times but would totally pay to see them once more for sure.
