After this, I'll check out Houdini, and then after that, hopefully I'll get some sleep. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.
If you're thinking about going to the show at the Mohawk on Thursday, you might want to spin the new EP also since it looks like they'll be playing the whole thing this tour.

Hmm. While normally I don't go to shows of bands I'm not all that familiar with (the only exception I made to the rule was when I was new to GWAR and a friend invited me to a show), I may actually hit that show up and hope I have enough energy for Mastopeth the next day in San Antonio.

What exactly is the Mohawk like as a venue? Gritty like Emo's, relatively clean like Stubb's, a mix between the two?

The Mohawk is cool, kind of a mix between the two. The outdoor stage (where the Melvins will be playing) has a nice upper level balcony/patio that they've recently upgraded to allow for more viewing area. The inside of the place has a Austin-weird/hipster vibe to the decorating; but not in a lame way. It's actually very fucking cool. The inside stage is a pretty small and intimate room (which is where Alcest is playing the late show after the Melvins). Let me know if you end up going and we could meet up. If not, it looks like we'll be at a few of the same shows in the future.

Sweet. If I can scrape up the extra money to go, I'll go (I'll be in the Acrassicauda shirt, for future reference). Are you heading to Eyehategod on the 12th, by the way?

Yep, I am going to EHG. Ordered my ticket last week. I'll be wearing a Kylesa shirt to the Melvins show.

Got a question for you guys, what album/EP/whatever is closest in sound to "The Bit"? I really dig that song, not so much their drone-y/sludgy stuff though.

I've never gotten into a lot of The Melvins, BUT, I would highly recommend The Fantomas-Melvins Big Band DVD. It's a classic.

I would check out the rest of Stag (the album The Bit is on), but honestly all of their releases are pretty all over the place and aside from the really drone heavy records they cover a lot of territory on each release.

That's a pretty straightforward song for the Melvins. You could check out rest of the Stag album (which that song is from), but there's a lot of weird stuff on that album too. There are sixteen songs on that album but once you get rid of some of the fucked up stuff and a few fillers there's only about five to eight real songs. There's a good chance you may not like that album too much. You're probably best to check out the Stoner Witch album, that's their most straightforward rock album.
