If I did my top 50 albums, I couldn't tell you right now what #50 - #2 would be, but #1 would for sure be The Codex Necro. :brofist:

Yeah, Linc - you really stole a lot of your own thunder by being such a wuss.

Still, do carry on.

Well, after the Agalloch post I did think about it a bit, and realized I could've pulled it off if I had really wanted to, but it's too late already, so enough about that

At the time I first heard this album, it was the fastest metal I had ever heard. My first listen of Caught in a Mosh and Efilnikufesin probably made me start a mosh pit in my room, as lame as that sounds! Arguably Anthrax's best album, the youthful vigour the band possessed in 1987 (and still does, if not youthful) brings this record an adrenaline kick, with great drumming from Charlie Benante and vocals from Joey Belladonna, one of my favorite metal vocalists.

Favorite tracks:
Caught in a Mosh
Indians

This is the only one I can agree on so far ._.

I did the ones up so far last weekend, and I couldn't get to it during the week, but now that I've got a week-long break, I'll be returning to this.

At the Gates (Sweden)
Slaughter of the Soul (1995) Earache Records

An album hopefully familiar to all of you, Slaughter of the Soul is arguably responsible for the popularity of melodic death metal as well as the existence of many bands both melodeath and of other genres. An unrelenting and violent (for melodic death metal) final release from Gothenburg-based act At the Gates, the album has no filler; each track is as good if not better than the last, the album itself a stunning standard for each metal band to reach.

Favorite tracks:
Blinded by Fear
Slaughter of the Soul
Under a Serpent Sun

Between the Buried and Me (USA)
Colors (2007) Victory Records

Let me open with a disclaimer: if you're still under the impression that BTBAM are a metalcore band, shut up and listen to this album. While previous releases The Silent Circus and Alaska both contained elements of metalcore to a degree, the band should by no means be put in the same category. Their best release along with The Great Misdirect, Colors is a masterpiece; timing in at over an hour with eight tracks, the album is beautiful yet savage, one of my favorite progressive metal albums of all time. Another thing to note is that though the album is not a concept album, I try to only listen to it in one sitting, instead of picking out tracks.

Favorite tracks:
Informal Gluttony
Prequel to the Sequel
White Walls
