Albums that I think that you should hear

To elaborate a bit on the thread title, this isn't some kind of "essential metal albums" list. I'm more going for lesser known things or bands/albums that I've never seen talked about around here. These aren't in any order and I'm just posting as I think about them and are by no means my favorite albums of all time. These are just my opinions, so feel free to tell me how much a particular album sucks or whatever. Anyway, here it goes.

Artist: Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire
Album: Songs of Ill Hope a Desperation
Genre: Grindcore / Death Metal
Release Year: 2010

Gonna just go balls out and start with some grindcore. This is simply a great grind album. It's a really groovy style of grind, but with no lack of frenzied grind madness. It's different from a lot of grindcore releases in that it's song lengths average about three minutes. It's got its fair share of filler, but all in all nothing really bad, except for the last like four minutes of the album which just consist of something reminiscent of a baby crying. The standout tracks are "Cloven", "I Walked Away From the Human Race" and "Piss."

Album: Icon
Genre: Deathgrind / Tech Death
Release Date: 2007


I've already seen this band mentioned in some old thread that I was checking out, but dammit, that's just not enough. This band is technical, grindy amazingness and this album is by far their best. Songs like "Grind Wit" are just all over the place with in your face brutality to a melodic breakdown to a French rap verse (I know, right?). The vocalist encorporates a bunch of different vocal types in here using death growls, grindcore screeches and a few pig squeals here and there. The con of this album is that most of the good tracks are at the beginning and it begins to lose momentum a bit towards the end, with the exception of track 10, "Invoxhate." Also, there's an undeniable hardcore influence, which may lose some, but I personally like it. The whole band are really talented musicians and I think that you should check them out if you haven't. The standout tracks to me are "Grind Wit", "Slut" and "Invoxhate."

I love that album. There's nobody else that sounds quite like them. Their newest one sort of disappointed me though.

You're actually the one that I saw mention it. Yeah, their new one wasn't that good. It had a couple good songs on it though. Let the Blood Spill Between My Broken Teeth and Hostile are the only songs that are worth mentioning.

Ah, I was saying that I saw one of your posts mentioning them and that's the only mention of them that I've seen on here. But anyways...great fucking band.
