Dark Funeral -- Toronto, Ontario -- January 13th, 2007
Enslaved/Dark Funeral
Support: Abigail Williams, Eclpise Eternal Date: January 13th, 2007 Venue: the Opera House in Toronto, Ontario I’ve been finding a lot of setlists from shows I’ve been to on the past so I decided to post them. Some of them are with the help of setlist.fm, but these aren’t just me ripping setlists and posting them (that would be too easy). These are all shows I’ve been to and have stories to tell. This show has a special place in my heart because it was the first concert I’d been to (that I wanted to see anyway) in almost seven years. I was just getting into Enslaved and at the time all I’d heard from them was Isa and Ruun. In the five years since this I’ve seen them four more times and consider them one of my favorite bands to see live. They’re one of the few bands I will miss work for to see live. We got to the Opera House early enough to catch all the openers. Eclipse Eternal is my friend Wulfgars band and they’re popular in the Southern Ontario area. They were cool. Abigail Williams in their first incarnation was next and I was just so happy to be back at a concert that anyone was awesome. And I’ll admit that every time I have seen them since I have liked them. They get a lot of shit, and I can understand why, but I do enjoy them. Enslaved came out next and thankfully drew heavily from the only two albums I knew by them at the time. Path to Vanir isn’t my favorite song by them so it wasn’t the best opener but once they hit the first “bridge” in Fusion of Sense and Earth (1:48), holy shit. Even after seeing them play that song at every show I’ve seen by them since that part just floors me. After that it was just awesome song after awesome song, with the exception of the last two older songs. Even now I’m not the biggest fan of their older stuff. Essence was especially incredible live. Watching them perform that song made me realized that I was missing out on so much by not attending concerts and I’ve made a conscious effort to try go to as many as I can now. Enslaved 1. Path To Vanir 2. Fusion of Sense and Earth 3. Bounded By Allegiance 4. The Voices 5. Essence 6. Queen of Night 7. Isa 8. Ruun 9. Return to Yggdrasil 10. Jotunblod 11. Slaget i skogen bortenfor After Enslaved me and my brother decided to leave since neither of us were to into Dark Funerals style of black metal, and there was just no way anyone could follow Enslaved up (a credo I still live by today). I kinda wish I stuck around just to see them anyway. I grabbed their set from setlist.fm., and it’s actually from the New York date earlier on in the week but I’ve heard they don’t change up their setlists too much so I’m betting this is what they played. Dark Funeral 1. King Antichrist 2. Diabolis Interium 3. Ravenna Strigoi Mortii 4. The Arrival of Satan's Empire 5. Open the Gates 6. Vobiscum Satanas 7. 666 Voices Inside 8. Attera Totus Sanctus 9. The Secrets of the Black Arts 10. Hail Murder 11. Atrum Regina 12. My Dark Desires 13. An Apprentice of Satan

At first I was like, "Damnit, why didn't I get Enslaved on my Dark Funeral date?" but then I remembered I got Naglfar.

Enslaved would be awesome, but Naglfar is one of the best shows I've ever seen. And it was their only US tour so far!
