Dropkick Murphys -- Boston, MA -- March 15th, 2012
Insane show as always. Seeing the Dropkick Murphys in Boston is such a special experience. The crowd is always really into it and just having a good time and the band feeds off that so well. The setlist last night had a fair number of surprises in which was really cool.
The openers, The Mighty Regis and Frank Turner were alright. The Mighty Regis was one of the weridest bands I've ever heard. They were mostly celtic folk, but they had sudden bursts of punk. Not bad, but I spent most the set very confused. Frank Truner is a straight-up folk artist and his studio stuff didn't impress me. That being said, he has hell of a stage presence and his in-between song banter was awesome. He also brought someone up from the audience to play harmonica on one of his songs which was really cool. His music isn't my thing, but his performance wasn't bad at all. Also there were mosh pits and no they were not broken up. So much for Boston cracking down on moshing .Here is my best attempt at remembering the sets, the order may be a little off and I didn't recognize every song for the Murphys. Frank Turner included: Eulogy Peggy Sang The Blues Sons of Liberty Dan's Song I Still Believe Dropkick Murphys: The Irish Rover Time to Go ![]() The Gang's All Here Going Out In Style The Dirty Glass The Burden Deeds Not Words Sunday Hardcore Matinee Tessie Peg O' My Heart Never Alone Memories Remain (this fucking floored me, I would have never excepted them to play this) Bastards On Parade Forever Watch Your Back (Cock Sparrer Cover) Take Em' Down (acoustic) Citizen C.I.A (acoustic) Boys on the Docks (acoustic) I'm Shipping Up to Boston Worker's Song ? Broken Hymns Captain Kelly's Kitchen The State of Massachusetts Encore: Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced Skinhead on the MBTA Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC cover) Alcohol (Gang Green Cover) Scores The Mighty Regis 5/10 Frank Turner 6/10 Dropkick Murphys 9/10

I'm not too into this type of music but I wiki'd Dropkick Murphys and read about their political standpoints. It read that "on Saturday August 13, 2011, Dropkick Murphys issued a statement of solidarity with the 45,000 Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) on strike from Verizon Communications, Inc."
Being a member of the Toronto chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Dropkick Murphys get a HIGH FIVE from me.
