You definitely need to give more time to Loss. You won't regret it

Like I said, I probably would have loved them, given more time. An album being on this list is a good thing.

...and yeah. I do plan to give some more time to Yob and Loss. I already know Thomas Giles is good, because I listened to it a lot back when it came out. I guess I just didn't have a good feeling about where to put it in my list, and I ran out of time to listen to that and several others who were kinda left hanging out there with no obvious place to put them.

Still like the band, still like the album - just didn't unconditionally, absolutely it.

I dunno if it's unfocused per se, but it's definitely not straight-up Revocation-style tech-death this time around.
Exactly. That's all I'm saying. I guess I was just more of a fan of their previous direct assault style rather than their new noodling prog/tech style (which is incidentally why I preferred Origin over Obscura this year as well, even though both were phenomenal).

OK, so here's another chapter for the orgy:

Top Ten Live Shows
  1. Helmet / St. Vitus / Crowbar / Kylesa / Red Fang / Howl / The Atlas Moth - Peabody’s (Cleveland, OH) - March 26, 2011 Gig Report
  2. Russian Circles / deafheaven / If These Trees Could Talk - Grog Shop (Cleveland, OH) - November 18, 2011 Gig Report
  3. Primus / Dirtfoot - Stubb’s BBQ (Austin, TX) - May 24, 2011 Gig Report
  4. Yakuza / The Atlas Moth / Batillus / The Swan King - Subterranean (Chicago, IL) - November 23, 2011 Gig Report
  5. Pentagram / Pelican / Alpinist / Masakari / Early Graves / Aeges - The Mezzanine (San Francisco, CA) - August 16, 2011 Gig Report
  6. Origin / Hate Eternal / Vital Remains / Abysmal Dawn - Peabody’s (Cleveland, OH) - July 6, 2011 Gig Report
  7. An Evening with…Amon Amarth - Peabody’s (Cleveland, OH) - July 6, 2011 Petrovar's Gig Report
  8. 100,000 Leagues Under My Nutsack / Bruce Lamont / Man’s Gin - Now That’s Class (Cleveland, OH) - September 4, 2011 Moobys37's Gig Report
  9. Obscura / Skeletonwitch / Solipsist / Moths / Inoculation - Peabody’s (Cleveland, OH) - July 27, 2011 JD's Gig Report
  10. Kylesa / Rosetta / Fight Amp - 31st St. Pub (Pittsburgh, PA) - January 21, 2011 Gig Report

Note: I didn't include the U2 show in this list, because it's kinda like comparing apples and oranges. If I were to try to stick it in here, it would probably show up somewhere around Yakuza and Power of the Riff, though. Here's a link to the Gig Report just in case anyone is interested.

EDIT: I also didn't include the Mike Doughty show I saw on 11/13/11, even though it was FUCKING AWESOME. I never did write a gig report for that show, because I thought there'd be zero interest on here, but if anybody is interested I could do one.
