7. King Diamond (Kim Bendix Petersen)

Bands: Mercyful Fate (1981-1999), Black Rose (1979-1981), Brats (1981), King Diamond (1985-present)

What can ya' say about the King that hasn't already been said? He has the highest fucking voice in all of metal and maybe even all of music. I'm totally stoked about the king's return, and recent videos show he's still got it. His ability to hit high notes at that kind of age is only matched by the next entry on this list.

Example: King Diamond - Welcome Home

6. Rob Halford

Bands: Judas Priest (1973-1991,2003-present), Halford (1992-present), Fight (1993-1995), 2wo (1996-1998)

Same situation as my last post. What the fuck can I say? One of the most iconic voices in the history of heavy metal. The Fucking METAL GOD. Halford's vocals were amazing on all the 70's and 80's Priest albums but my favorite performance from him is on Painkiller. I'd say that Halford on that album is probably the greatest vocal performance in the history of heavy metal. He sounds like he's singing like his life depends on it. The ending scream of the title track leaves me with my jaw on the floor every time I listen to it.

Example: Judas Priest - Painkiller

Bobby Elsworth would make my list. He'd be the only one though.

Araya, Halford, and Claypool are good picks.
