Question for the drummers out there...

Or whomever.

This song popped up on my ipod today and is it me or is this drummer having trouble keeping the (blast)beat?

I'm no musician but he seems to be struggling during the verses and choruses starting at the 0:54 mark.

I didn't listen to the entire thing but no, he doesn't really seem to be struggling. I wouldn't really call those blastbeats, per se, either. Because the snare hit is on the eighth note offbeat, it can throw your perception off at times and make it sound out of sync with the music if you concentrate on it too hard.

and the singer totally looks like Alice Cooper. Cool band, though, I'll have to check them out more.

I'm not a drummer, but I don't think those are blast beats. They sound in time to me, too.

If you wanna hear a song where the drummer seems to have trouble blast-beating in time, here's Immortal @ 0:08

AS a drummer I can answer this easy.

Those aren't blasts. It's just a very fast thrash beat over Black Metal music. Blast beats would be on every 8th note on the snare. this beat is not.

Necrophobic! Great choice. I take it you've already heard 'The Nocturnal Silence'?

And yeah, like everyone else said, it's just a fast thrash beat. The bass drum kicks are falling on the primary beat and the snare is on the offbeat.
