The other band who did it really well was Gorefest, with their albums Soul Survivor and Chapter 13. Great stuff!

I've actually never heard the album that came after Heartwork. It's pretty good stuff?

For what it is, I enjoy it. Doesn't compare to the other albums though.

This is the song they usually play live from it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R_RavpIGxo

Pretty cool. The album is on Spotify so I'll listen to it later tonight.

Moonspell

I'm looking supremely forward to their 2012 release.

Yeah, I heard the deluxe version is going to have a bonus disc with a good amount of extra material as well. Can't wait!

46.) Goatwhore - A Haunting Curse (2006)

How can you not love Goatwhore? These guys have consistently put out solid blackened death metal with delightfully ridiculous, random lyrics about blasphemy and apocalyptic shit. What sets A Haunting Curse apart from their other albums is the polished production, which is a nice change of pace. Vocalist Ben Falgoust mostly sticks to his awesome midrange while guitarist Sammy Duet delivers a storming flurry of tasty riffs. I would highly recommend anyone who hasn't checked these guys out yet to start right here.

Favorite Tracks: "In the Narrow Confines of Defilement", "Forever Consumed Oblivion", "I Avenge Myself"

When you start your album off with a song about H.P. Lovecraft, it's safe to say you've caught my attention. I discovered Septicflesh when I found out I would be seeing them open for Cradle of Filth and Satyricon in February '09. After listening to "Anubis" on their myspace page, I immediately purchased this album via iTunes... and I was not disappointed in the least. Communion is brutal, beautiful, and epic as fuck.

Favorite Track: "Persepolis"
Lovecraft's Death is one of the strongest openers I've ever heard. I think I prefer "The Great Mass" as a whole over this one, but both albums are great.

And also, I love Goatwhore.

They are amazing live and on record. I already have their new album preordered and will be seeing them with Hate Eternal next month for sure.
