Yeah, I've never really been that into Cannibal Corpse. I get their appeal and that they've had a huge impact on death metal, but I just don't listen to them often.

And again, if it weren't for the "American" part... Bolt Thrower would have to be in there too!

Entombed and Dismember are two truly great bands in the scene...

But then take a look at all the truly great bands in the American scene. There's a lot more. Now obviously America is a much bigger country than Sweden, but the fact remains, there are more American death metal bands that I love than there are Swedish ones.

Not that I'm arguing with you, but Russia is bigger than Sweden OR Norway and our death metal scene (let alone metal scene overall) is non-existent
