I'm using "thrash" in the loosest possible sense for this album, by the way.
Obviously Worship Music.

Right, let's drag this out a bit

5. Ancient VVisdom
A Godlike Inferno
Shinebox Recordings

Holy shit. Actually got round to listening to this right at the end of 2011, and it romped straight into the top 5. Honestly, there's a real chance that if I'd been able to play through it a bit more, it might have even made 4. It's doom-rock-based, but it's entirely acoustic. Magnificent playing and vocals, and great songs. Bit short, but some real complexity in there.

Down to the top 3 now. Two prog albums and one rock album.

3. Pain of Salvation
Road Salt Two
InsideOut

I don't think this is quite as good overall as Road Salt One (which I sadly heard too late to include in my list for 2010), but Jesus H. Christ could this band get any more creative? Sure at times they sound a little like they're trying to be Muse or Queen, but songs like She Softly Cries are just unbelievably good.
