I don't get the Iron Maiden comparison. Maybe I've just listened to too much Maiden or maybe I just like them too much but I've never heard another band that sounds like them, hell even Bruce's solo stuff doesn't sound anything like Maiden to me and some of his releases have two Maiden members on them.
Anyways, I've been disappointed by comparisons to Maiden since I first started listening to music after I found them. And, NO, Keeper of the Seven Keys II does not sound like Iron Maiden.![]()

Demized Opening for Ares Kingdon, with Elctrikchair and El Canero. ![]() Demized did what every obscure touring act should do: make your show memorable by making it fun. Not only do they play really fun brutal death metal, but they also covered Behemoth and Brujeria. I think it's the first time I've ever sung along to a band that I didn't know. Cannabis Corpse Opening for The Black Dahlia Murder, along with All Shall Perish and Marasmus. ![]() Although not an old-school band, Cannabis Corpse plays a brand of old-school death metal that is really infectious. Their brand of metal is why the death metal bands of yesteryear are held in such reverence. Also possibly being the first band I've seen to have lyrics about weed that aren't douchebags about it. Crowbar Opening for Saint Vitus, along with Kylesa, Red Fang, Howl, The Atlas Moth, Apehanger. ![]() Back when I was young and naive (March), I fooled myself into thinking all bands considered "sludge" were boring. Crowbar proceeded to take the stage and forcefully rip out that part of my brain. Insanely heavy and brutal. And Kirk has amazing tattoos! Original Review Highlight: Cemetery Angels

Landmine Marathon Opening for Warbringer, along with LaZarus A.D., Diamond Plate and Vanlade. ![]() Artists like Landmine Marathon and vocalist Grace Perry are saving women in heavy music. Anyone who labels Landmine Marathon "a chick band" are fucking stupid. They absolutely rip live, a perfect blend of grindcore and death metal. And Grace Perry is one of the best harsh vocalists I've ever heard live. They couldn't have been more out of place on the Warbringer tour, but it was a breath of fresh brutality that left everyone headbanging and speechless. Landmine is from here in Phoenix, and I haven't seen them in something like 6 years. I feel like an asshole.

WORST BANDS I SAW THIS YEAR
Thankfully, this year was pretty amazing for concerts, so not too many bad bands. But the one's that were bad were REALLY bad. ==== 5. My Chemical Romance Opening for blink-182, along with Matt & Kim. ![]() As part of the Big 3 of shitty radio emo pop rock bands (the other two being Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy), I always found My Chemical Romance to be the most enjoyable of them. Or at least the least worst. But it definitely didn't translate live. Maybe it's because I only know their popular songs and their new album tracks sound entirely uninspired, but they nearly ruined the 10th anniversary of my first concert.
