That Myrath album is pretty good. Solid progressive metal with some middle-eastern elements!

I don't usually like to give incentive to stuff like this, but I won't pretend that I relate to the majority of your musical tastes and that you know your stuff, so I would love to see the rest of this list. I need to check out a few of the mentions, although I know most of them. And I'm disappointed that the Anubis Gate and Myrath aren't up there, as well as Mr. Big and a few others. But I still look forward to the list as a whole.

I didn't even know Dragonland released an album this year. I thought their first 4 releases were solid, but I rarely listen to power metal nowadays so I haven't paid much attention to them.

- Myrath's previous album was better - Demon's Eye should be a lot higher, certainly higher than Doogie's solo album, although that was a damn good album too - Royal Hunt with Mark Boals > Royal Hunt with DC Cooper - Placing of Mr. Big and Voodoo Circle is about right, so long as that fucking awful new Sinner album isn't higher - If any of Holy Force, Ilium, Vinder, Images of Eden, Valsans or Emerald Sun place in your list, I'll find and kill you ![]() That do you?

-If I would've actually ranked these honorable mentions, Demon's Eye would've been around 26th or 27th - and Doogie's solo album would've been around 34th or 35th. -Paradox II: Collision Course with Boals is my second-favorite Royal Hunt album, so I obviously love that era of their career. And the last record (X) was still better than the new album. But it's Royal Hunt. They're one of those "by the numbers" bands I can really enjoy. -I'd ignore this page for the next 24 hours... ![]() -I guess I don't have to fear for my life then.

Sinner - One Bullet Left ![]() Sinner have never been a frighteningly original band. To be honest, they are downright derivative - that's their "thing". Mat Sinner likes Thin Lizzy - and I mean REALLY likes Thin Lizzy, and that's pretty apparent throughout the majority of this disc. Some of these tracks could come right off a classic Thin Lizzy record, with Mat's vocal phrasing and delivery very similar to that of Phil Lynott's, and some great twin guitar work. Derivative? Yes. I can't deny that. But the bottom line is that I really, really enjoy it, and that's really all that matters to me. Featured Track: "Back on Trail" (Official Video) |
