I tried hard to like the last album, but honestly I just wasn't that interested anymore

I've never blown my load over Tool the way others seem to, but Lateralus is a fantastic album.

"While Tool‘s rather verbose November newsletter led many to the conclusion that Tool were in the studio with Joe Barresi, it turns out that’s not entirely true. As was cautiously posted before, the newsletter only confirmed that members of the band had been in the studio with Barresi; with Tool material being directly specified much later.

A key revision to said newsletter over at Toolband.com has since revealed that the recordings in question were in fact for Tool drummer Danny Carey‘s side project VOLTO! and not Tool. Yep, bummer."

I remember everyone going nuts over the last album, which I thought sucked so hard I sold my copy. I've never sold an album because I've disliked it.

Yeah, 10,000 Days wasn't that good.

I dig 10,000 days. I don't really listen to Tool at all anymore though.

"Jambi" is one of my all-time favorite Tool songs. "The Pot" is another beast. "Roseta Stoned" has grown on me quite a bit, and is an absolutely awesome live track. The lyrics in "Right in Two" are as thought-provoking as anything Tool has ever written, and even "Vicarious" is pretty good. You guys are fucking nuts.

Having said this, Lateralus is clearly a superior album all the way, but 10,000 Days is no stinker. Maybe Tool just isn't your thing?

^ This. 10,000 Days is my least favorite Tool album, but Tool really don't have any bad albums.

Aside from the lateralus statement

Opiate > Undertow > Lateralus > 10,000 Days > Aenema

IMO
