I actually think I will have 2 of my own top 10's finish in the board's top 10 this year - Symphony X and Iced Earth. I think there's still enough people around here listening to "my music" and these albums were well received enough to make this happen.

Iconoclast is in my Top 10. Unless the new Hammers of Misfortune is really good, it'll stay there.

17th Street is good, very good.

I liked 'Iconoclast' but was too way too long in my opinion but then it was a special 2 CD release so..

I agree that it's too long, I think they should've dropped 1 or 2 songs and kept it onto one disc. But the truth is I do like every song, and I definitely LOVE a handful of them, it's the album I wanted Symphony X to make. I'm not gonna get all principled and dock points because the album runs 5-10 minutes too long when I honestly really enjoy all of it when broken up a bit. It's been my go to "in the car" album for months, and is easily my #1 for 2011.

Fair enough. I am the not biggest fan of Symphony X though I enjoy their work, but I can see why I wouldn't mind either if one of my favorite bands released a really long record.

However I feel the length is one reason why it hasn't been on many lists because individual songs counted, it is admittedly better than a lot of the albums put out this year.

Every year I'm usually surprised at how many people come out of the woodwork of still listening to music I enjoy. Throughout 90% of the year I'm frustrated at the lack of anything for me to really talk about with people. I guess the majority of the people who are into the more Prog/Power/Traditional Metal stuff are just the ones who do more lurking than posting, or just don't post as obsessively about the stuff.

I do love me some Prog/Power and yes I was lurking since March

I've only started posting more often since the past month or so

I don't really know what has enough support to beat Mastodon this year. Machine Head, Anthrax, or Symphony X maybe?
