Lock Up - Necropolis Transparent ![]() How to describe it? Hmm.... well it's got a grindy vibe/feel, but it's not straight-up grind. It's very much death metal, but too punky to be straight-up death metal. So...what is it? It's not... *gasp*... death-grind, is it? I thought I hated death-grind. But I definitely do not hate this. On the contrary, this album is the tits. Bit of a disconnect there, I'd say?Really cool riffage here. Brethren of the Pentagram The Embodiment of Paradox and Chaos

Why is every thread in the Album Reviews just arguments about hipster metal lately?

I guarantee my album thread should be 100% devoid of any "hipster" discussion.

Tombs - Path of Totality ![]() When I first heard this, I LOVED it. Actually before a few days ago, it was still in my top ten. But my most recent listen proved to be too much. Still, this album is really interesting. It's very much black metal - but not traditionally. It's really sludgy, too. Could it be... *gasp*... blackened sludge?! ![]() They creep in a lot of melody, as well. Not so much where it becomes expected, but, you know. It's welcomed ![]() Vermillion Passageways

I could just wait until tomorrow to do my next entry, but I'm guessing nobody really cares about Tombs anyway.
21. Black Cobra - Invernal ![]() Funny story about this one. A few weeks ago I was high as fuck. So I turned this album on. And I started crying. It was BY FAR the greatest piece of music I had ever heard in my life. I knew I would NEVER hear anything quite like this again. ...And now it's my #21 ![]() It's still an amazing record, though. I fucking worship these guys' guitar tone. Black Cobra's a sludge metal two-piece, a drummer and a guitarist/vocalist, which doesn't really make sense to me, because the sound is so bassy. Either way, the guitar tone is so badass - so sexy, so absolutely orgasmic. I can't stand it. There's actually some memorable songs, too ![]() Beyond Abyss
