Exodus -- Hollywood, CA -- November 12th, 2011

This was a free Scion concert held at the Roxy with Decrepit Birth, All Shall Perish and Origin opening. I didn't like Decrepit Birth and All Shall Perish much, but Origin and Exodus slayed. Exodus had Brain Dead and Bonded By Blood on the written setlist, but cut them because of time.

Real good variety in the set I think, and Last Act of Defiance and Metal Command were awesome treats. Still not quite as awesome as when I saw them in SF a year and a half ago, but an excellent show nonetheless.

The Last Act of Defiance
Beyond the Pale
Children of a Worthless God
Piranha
Deathamphetamine
Blacklist
A Lesson in Violence
Metal Command
War Is My Shepherd
The Toxic Waltz
Strike of the Beast

Nice to see Last Act of Defiance in there. Why the fuck would you cut Brain Dead and Bonded by Blood due to time isssues? Just cut Deathamphetamine and play both of them.

I'm still bummed I missed this. I wasn't able to RSVP, so I didn't expect to go. My friend called me up at 11am, right when I was going to sleep after getting off work, and told me his friend couldn't make it and I should use his name to get in. I was too tired to make it out to Hollywood yesterday. I could have easily seen the free show, hung out for a bit, then walked across the street to the Viper Room to see High on Fire.

I was going to go, but I had seen all those bands before and I was primarily going to go for ASP anyway. Also because I was still buzzed from the night before and I didn't feel like taking a bus to Hollywood in the rain.

Sorry, I didn't know any of the other bands before this show at all, so I don't have sets for them.

Origin:

Expulsion of Fury
Purgatory
Conceiving Death
Swarm
Saligia
The Aftermath
Banishing Illusion
Evolution Of Extinction

Origin was fucking amazing again. Jason got a bunch of people to get on the stage for a "Stage Dive Wall of Death", but the security pulled the curtain down and stopped it. I got up and dived before the curtain came all the way down. Easily one of my top 3 favorite bands live, they are just that good.

Here's a pic of the stage dive wall of death from their twitter:

EDIT: I missed Decrepit Birth. My friends and I got there just before Origin started. I'm sure their setlist was similar to what it was for the Decapitated tour though.

More death metal bands need to advocate stagediving.
