I joined just to comment on this. I saw Emperor at the Congress back in 1999 and they had the same problems. Everything was mixed horribly, it sounded like a complete mess. Ihsahn was bitching at the sound people between all of the first 5-6 songs before giving up. If I recall correctly the monitors for the drummer were not functioning at all, so he couldn't hear anyone. Reading this brought that all back for me. Ha. Luckily I saw em in Chicago a fedw years ago at another venue near Wrigley and the sound was much much better.

I assume "the venue near Wrigley" is the Metro

TWICE! I'm not gonna lie, it was awesome!

And you're correct sir, it was the metro. Couldn't think of the name, I'm from Detroit and was only there the one time.

So awesome. I'm mad jelly. The metro is a great, rather small venue, too! Would have killed to see Emperor there.

Not even taking into consideration the Misfits and Samhain songs, just the fact that they played Devil's Plaything makes the set amazing. Ugh, I wish I could see one of these shows, but at least I saw the Danzig/Doyle reunion in 2005. Still..... god damnit
