Dream D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) Setlist
I couldn't find a D.R.I. thread on here, so I'm posting one.
Yes, I know almost all of these are played live anyway, but in that case, consider this the order I'd like to see them played in. Who Am I Slumlord Dead in a Ditch Suit and Tie Guy Snap I'd Rather Be Sleeping Couch Slouch Beneath the Wheel Argument Then War How to Act Soup Kitchen Blues Thrashard Problem Addict I Don't Need Society Reaganomics Mad Man Acid Rain Nursing Home Blues The Application Equal People Bail Out Do the Dream Modern World I'm the Liar Syringes in the Sandbox Violent Pacification Abduction Five Year Plan

Why thank you for telling us what DRI stood for; I don't think we knew.

It's become a habit for me to explain what a band's abbreviation is, since I have the D.R.I. logo on the back of my jacket and poseur kids ask me if it's some deathcore/metalcore symbol (...no really, I can not make shit like that up) or something, and I wind up having to explain to a spoiled psuedo-metal brat who D.R.I. were and as a result, watch him/her whine about how he firmly believes that The Rev was the fastest/best drummer ever or how Black Fail Brides, Three Derps Grace, or some deathcore band are "legitimate heavy metal" as opposed to Deicide or Morbid Angel.

Uhhh DRI is metalcore. Metalcore really started out as crossover thrash before it was ruined over time by what people now see metalcore as

Hmm. I guess by the technical definition of metalcore, yes, they would be. Along with every other crossover band known to man. But I think it's easier for all of us if we just consider them "crossover", and associate the vanilla term "metalcore" with the likes of Converge, Botch, Coalesce, early Norma Jean, etc.

Then there's "modern hardcore": Terror, Trapped Under Ice, Cruel Hand, Ceremony, etc. Which is fucking great! Then there's the "IKEACORE" stuff: Touche Amore, Have Heart, Defeater... which you either love or hate. And I didn't even mention "late 90's Victory Records-core", the New York Scene (which is pretty close to my definition of vanilla "hardcore"), crossover, Youth Crew, powerviolence, "ENTOMBEDCORE", whatever the fuck Converge is... shit is diverse! But yeah. I guess what I'm getting at is when someone says "hardcore", it's pretty fucking unspecific. |
